“The Fabulous Six”, managed by Fritz Hodde of Hutto, Texas, has been performing since 1963. Their music can be heard on polka stations throughout Texas and a multitude of other states. In 1998, Fritz sponsored a polka music show on KTAE radio station for four months until the station was bought out. The band enjoys traveling the State of Texas playing polka, waltz, and country music.

The band has participated in many festivals throughout Texas over the years including the “Accordion King Festival” in Houston and Austin, the National Polka Festival in Ennis off and on since 1967, the Fort Bend Czech Festival in Rosenberg, the Kolache Festival in Hallettsville, the Aqua Festival in Austin, the Big Joe Festival in Round Top, plus many more. The band has played for birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, and numerous Polka Masses to keep the Czech polka music alive.

“The Fabulous Six” now “actually consists of 5 members”. For many years, the band consisted of two generations of Pallas (Arthur and Byron) and three generations of Hoddes (Lorenz, Fritz, and Scott) until the death of Lorenz in 1998. We are now happy to announce and promote someone that you may or may not have heard play at dances, Brandon Hodde, who has been helping us quite a bit lately. Brandon, who plays drums, is the son of Scott Hodde and the grandson of Fritz Hodde. Brian Svetlik, who has been our drummer since 2004, still helps us when he is not playing with the Czechaholics.

The band members are all multi-talented and feature vocals of Czech, German, Spanish, and also English:

Fritz Hodde – Trumpet, accordion, guitar, vocals has played in the band for 43 years
Arthur Palla – Saxophone, guitar, vocals has played in the band for 26 years
Scott Hodde – Saxophone, button accordion, trumpet, drums, bass guitar, baritone, vocals has played in the band for 21 years.
Russell Kalkbrenner – Bass guitar, drums has played in the band since September 2002

The band has made 8 recordings, which can be found on CD, cassette, 8-track, and LP’s. Hope to see you in Ennis for the Polka Festival. It is always a pleasure to see old friends and make new ones.
