Jak Se Do

Hello from the Jak Se Do Band of Ennis Texas. Many have come along and asked, “Where did you get a band name such as that”? Well, about 5 years ago, we were playing for an RVOS function, and I was about to say, “Jak Se Mas” (How do you do in Czech), to one of the home officers. Right in the middle of this, I realized that he was not Czech and caught myself saying, Jak Se Do”. Some time later, this same gentleman saw me at another function, and said, “hey, there’s that Jak Se Do guy”. The person in charge of this function asked me what we wanted to call our band, and some young gentleman standing close by said, “just call it Jak SE DO”. Thus, our band name was born. We have a lot of fun playing for weddings, parties, hall functions, and etc. Come see our smiling faces.

Our band is basically polkas, waltzes, and folk dance, but we also play a variety of country songs, both modern and classical, and also some big band music.
Our current members are: Tony Vitovsky of Ennis - accordion, vocals, MC, and band manager; Byron Palla of Dallas - saxophone, guitar, and vocals; Bobby Adamcik of Dallas - saxophone, steel guitar, trumpet, and vocals; Chris Valek of Ennis - bass guitar; Ricky Barto of Ennis – Drums; and Dennis Chmelar of Ennis - saxophone and rhythm guitar.

Most of us have played with other bands such as the Johnnie Mensik Band, Country Boys, Harvesters, Sulak Brothers Band, Lone Star Czechs, and others.

We express grief over the passing of our dear friend and member of Jak Se Do Ab John Sulak. He played saxophone, vocals, and was assistant band leader. He will never be forgotten.

The Jak SE Do band welcomes everyone to the National Polka Festival, and asks that you support the Ennis Halls, as they are big players in this annual festival.

We hope to be working on a CD very soon. For bookings, call 972-875-9447.
